Speakers in NYC included Russell Simmons, Van Jones, Amy Goodman, Frances Moore Lappe, Helen Caldicott, John Perkins, Dr. Benjamin Chavis, and over 120 community activists, business leaders, students and artists.

Highlights included test drives of the first all-electric Ford vehicle, a green jobs fair, eco-fashion fashion show and over 250 local green businesses.

Thanks to a partnership with the Huffington Post, the entire weekend of main stage speakers were live-streamed around the globe.

The Chicago Green Festival returned to Navy Pier on May 5-6 with Rev. Jesse L. Jackson Sr., Greg Palast, Van Jones, Amy Goodman, Reed Alexander, Laura Flanders, Jeffrey Smith. The festival featured five stages full of DIY and cooking demonstrations. Highlights were workshops on greener living and a special theatrical presentation by Blacks in Green on The 8 Principles of Green-Village Building.

The Ford Community Green Grants were awarded to two amazing local initiatives: Green City Force in NYC and Academy for Global Citizenship in Chicago.

Both shows received amazing media coverage -- including CBS, ABC &  NBC TV and radio, NY 1,  Huffington Post, BET, MSN, FOX, Examiner (6.9 million cir), PBS, and hundreds of online listings.

Both cities were trending on Twitter during the weekends.
